If you could go back and witness any historical event, which one would you pick?
If I could travel back and witness any historical event, I think I’d choose the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Not because I’m particularly interested in standing around watching concrete fall down.
But because of what happened around it.
People climbing.
Strangers helping strangers.
Families finding each other.
People who had been separated suddenly standing on the same side again.
And imagine the sound.
The cheering.
The crying.
The confusion.
The absolute disbelief that something which had seemed permanent could suddenly be… gone.
I think that’s what I would want to witness.
That moment when people realised:
Things can change.
Because sometimes we look at the walls in our own lives and assume they’ll always be there.
The division.
The fear.
The distance between people.
We become so used to them that we stop imagining anything different.
And then, sometimes, someone takes the first step.
Someone climbs.
Someone reaches over.
Someone says:
“What if it doesn’t have to stay this way?”
I wouldn’t need to be the person making history that day.
I’d just want to stand in the crowd.
To feel what it was like when thousands of people realised, all at once, that a wall could come down.
Because I think that’s a feeling worth remembering.
Nothing is as permanent as it sometimes appears.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
