If you could relive one day from your past, which day would it be and why?
If I could relive one day from my past, I don’t think I’d choose a particularly important one.
No wedding.
No birthday.
No grand adventure.
I’d choose an ordinary day.
One of those days that didn’t seem special at the time because I didn’t know I would eventually miss it.
There would probably be coffee involved. There usually is.
Someone I loved would be there.
There would be conversation that went nowhere in particular. Someone laughing at something silly. A meal that wasn’t especially memorable. Perhaps a little disagreement about something completely unimportant.
And I’d probably be thinking about tomorrow.
That’s the funny thing about ordinary days.
We rarely appreciate them while we’re living them.
We’re thinking about what needs doing next. The appointment tomorrow. The work next week. The holiday we’re planning. The thing we’re waiting for.
And meanwhile, today is quietly becoming yesterday.
If I could go back, I wouldn’t change anything. That’s important.
I wouldn’t want to interfere with the day or make everyone stop and appreciate how precious it was.
I’d simply want to notice it properly.
I’d listen a little longer.
I’d laugh a little harder.
I’d put my phone down.
I’d look around the room and think:
Remember this.
Because one day, this ordinary little moment might be exactly what you wish you could have back.
Perhaps that’s what I’d bring back from that day—not the events themselves, but the ability to experience them with the knowledge I have now.
To understand that a life isn’t made primarily from the spectacular moments.
It’s made from Tuesdays.
Coffee.
Conversations.
People sitting around the same table.
The sound of someone you love laughing in the next room.
Those tiny pieces of nothing much that somehow turn out to have been everything.
So if I could relive one day?
I’d choose one I didn’t appreciate enough the first time.
And this time, I’d stay a little longer.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
