Confidence Arrives Late

What’s the best way to build self-confidence?

What’s the best way to build self-confidence?

Darling, if you ask ten people, you’ll probably get ten different answers.

Read more books.

Think positively.

Set goals.

Repeat affirmations.

Take cold showers.

Personally, I think most of that misses the point.

The most confident people I know rarely started out confident.

They became confident because they kept doing things before they felt ready.

The interesting thing is that confidence often arrives after the fact, not before.

You try something.

It works.

You try something else.

That works too.

Eventually your brain starts collecting evidence.

Not that you’ll never fail.

But that you’ll probably survive if you do.

I think that’s where real confidence comes from.

Not from believing you’re perfect.

Not from believing you’ll always succeed.

But from knowing you’ll cope when things don’t go according to plan.

Most of us spend years waiting to feel confident enough before taking the next step.

In reality, it often works the other way around.

Take the step first.

The confidence usually catches up later.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
