How do you handle fear and self-doubt?
Honestly?
Most of the time I don’t think people “beat” fear and self-doubt.
I think we just learn how to keep moving while carrying them around.
Some days I feel confident and motivated and ready to take on the world.
Other days I overthink:
- things I said three years ago,
- messages I haven’t answered yet,
- whether people secretly dislike me,
- and whether I remembered to lock the front door.
Human brains are weird 😄
I used to think confident people never doubted themselves.
Now I think the truly confident people are usually the ones who quietly say:
“Yeah, I’m scared too… but I’m doing it anyway.”
That feels much more real to me.
For me personally, fear gets louder when:
- I sit still too long,
- isolate myself,
- or spend too much time inside my own head.
So usually I try to:
- go for a drive,
- clean something,
- talk to somebody I trust,
- make coffee,
- or focus on one tiny thing instead of the whole mountain.
Because sometimes the mountain is what scares you.
But:
“Reply to one email.”
“Take one step.”
“Get through today.”
That feels manageable.
And honestly, self-doubt isn’t always a bad thing.
The people who worry about being good enough are often the same people trying their hardest to be kind, careful, thoughtful and better than they were yesterday.
That matters.
I think courage is less:
“I’m fearless.”
and more:
“I’m terrified, but I’m still here.”
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
