The Myth Of Becoming A “Fitness Person”

How can you build a regular fitness routine?

I think one of the biggest mistakes people make about exercise is believing they must first transform into the sort of person who cheerfully drinks spinach at six in the morning and describes burpees as “fun.”

Personally, if somebody invites me to a “high intensity sunrise bootcamp,” my immediate instinct is to fake my own disappearance and relocate quietly to the countryside.

I do, however, believe in movement.

Not punishment.
Not guilt.
Not screaming motivational speeches delivered by suspiciously energetic people named Chad.

Just movement.

I think the secret to building a regular fitness routine is making it feel like part of your life instead of a weekly public battle against your own soul.

Go for walks.
Dance around the kitchen while making coffee.
Stretch while waiting for the kettle.
Take the long way home occasionally.

I also think people underestimate consistency.

Doing something gently and repeatedly usually matters far more than enthusiastically destroying your knees twice a year in January.

And honestly, if your exercise routine leaves you feeling happier, calmer, stronger, and slightly more capable of surviving modern life without threatening the printer, then it is probably working just fine.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
