What super power do you wish you had and why?
I used to think the best superpower would be flying.
Mostly because it looked freeing. No traffic, no delays, no standing around in the rain waiting for buses that are somehow both late and early at the same time.
But the older I get, the more I think I’d choose something quieter.
I think I’d want the ability to pause a moment for just a little longer.
Not stop time completely. Just… stretch certain moments before they disappear.
Like those evenings when everyone’s still sitting around the table long after dinner is finished, and nobody’s in a hurry to leave.
Or the exact second a song starts playing that reminds you of somewhere you haven’t thought about in years.
Or watching Mum laugh properly at something Dad said when he wasn’t even trying to be funny.
Those moments always seem to vanish quicker than you expect them to.
Even ordinary ones.
Frank leaning against the old van with a cup of tea in his hand.
Dad pretending he absolutely knows where he’s going when everybody else in the car knows he doesn’t.
Mum looking out the kitchen window when she thinks nobody’s paying attention.
They’re small things at the time. Tiny, almost forgettable things.
But later they become the moments you wish you could step back into for another minute or two.
I think that’s the trouble with time.
You rarely notice which moments matter while they’re happening.
So yes… maybe flying would still be useful.
But if I could choose anything at all, I think I’d rather have the ability to hold onto certain moments just a little bit longer before they drift away.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
