The Ones I Keep Coming Back To

What are your favorite emojis?

I don’t use that many emojis, if I’m honest.

Or at least… I like to think I don’t.

But there are a few I keep coming back to without really noticing. The kind that quietly slip into messages, almost as a way of softening what I’m saying.

A small smile 🙂, just to make sure something doesn’t come across too serious.
A heart 🤍, when words don’t quite feel like enough on their own.
And sometimes the slightly awkward one… 😅, when I realise halfway through a message that I might have overthought it a bit.

I think that’s what I like about them.

Not as decoration… but as a small way of saying something that’s harder to put into words.

Although I do suspect they’ve also saved me from sounding far more serious than I actually am.

…Which, to be fair, happens more often than I’d like to admit.
