What are three objects you couldn’t live without?
There are, of course, the obvious answers.
Water. Oxygen. Wi-Fi.
But since we’re speaking in terms of objects and not existential necessities (although I maintain Wi-Fi is edging toward that category), here are my three non-negotiables:
1. My Laptop
This is less a device and more a portable extension of my frontal lobe.
It holds drafts I’ll never publish, drafts I absolutely will, ideas at 2am that feel revolutionary and read like chaos at 8am, and the quiet satisfaction of pressing “publish.”
It’s my office, my diary, my occasional therapist, and the reason I know far too much about font pairing.
Without it, I’d have thoughts.
With it, I have sentences.
And as we all know, sentences are far more dangerous.
2. A Proper Notebook (Paper. Actual Paper.)
Yes, I own a laptop. No, that does not eliminate the need for a notebook.
There is something deeply reassuring about ink on paper. Scribbles. Crossed-out plans. To-do lists that migrate heroically from page to page without ever being fully conquered.
A notebook feels like possibility.
Also, if civilisation collapses, I will be the only one calmly journaling through it.
3. Lipstick
Not because I can’t function without it — I absolutely can — but because there is something transformative about the smallest ritual.
A swipe of colour says: I showed up.
Even on days when the hair is uncooperative and the emails are mildly hostile, lipstick restores a degree of authority.
It’s armour.
But make it chic.
If I’m honest, none of these are truly essential for survival.
But they are essential for being me.
And I think that’s the point.
Now tell me — what are your three? I promise not to judge unless one of them is a television remote.
(Actually, I might still judge.)
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
