Who are your favorite people to be around?
I used to think the answer had to be clever.
Artists. Dreamers. People who say big words and drink complicated coffee.
Turns out… my favorite people are the ones who make ordinary moments feel like home.
The ones who don’t need a performance.
You know the type — the ones who sit at your kitchen table without asking where the mugs are because they already know. The ones who don’t panic when things go wrong; they just roll up their sleeves, open a biscuit tin, and say, “Right then, let’s figure it out.”
Some people bring noise.
Some bring calm.
I’ve learned I gravitate toward the calm ones — the dry humour, the quiet loyalty, the ones who might tease you endlessly but will stand beside you when the music slows down.
It’s not always the loudest personalities either. Sometimes it’s the person behind the newspaper muttering one-liners… or the friend who shows up smelling faintly of engine oil and strong coffee, pretending they’re only there for a quick visit but staying long enough to fix something you didn’t even realise was broken.
And then there are the people who see you — not just the polished version you present to the world, but the messy, soft, sometimes slightly dramatic human underneath.
Those are my people.
The ones who laugh easily.
Who forgive quickly.
Who know when to talk… and when to just sit quietly while the kettle boils.
Because in the end, it’s not about how exciting someone looks from the outside.
It’s about how safe you feel when you’re simply being yourself.
And honestly?
If they can make me laugh while I’m still half asleep and holding my morning tea — they’ve probably already earned a permanent seat at my table.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
