Bowled Over but not out.

What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

Growing up in Saffron, sport was less about competition and more about character — namely, the characters who played it.

I never quite took to football. Too many whistles, not enough tea breaks. But I’ll watch Wimbledon religiously — if only for the strawberries and the unspoken drama of a perfectly timed eye-roll between doubles partners. And no one in this house dares interrupt when the Six Nations are on. Mum pretends it’s background noise while she’s sorting laundry, but we all know she’s got money in the sweepstakes.

As for playing… well, I’m more of a “social sport” kind of girl. I’ve done my fair share of rounders in the parish green — always picked third from last, mind you, because I’m the type who insists on a dramatic slide into second base whether it’s necessary or not.

And then there’s bowls. Not lawn bowls, darling — ten-pin, Saturday mornings at the alley. Once in a while I actually manage to bowl a strike.

So no, I’m not winning any trophies anytime soon. But I’ll cheer, I’ll clap, and I’ll raise a glass at the pub after.

That counts, doesn’t it?

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋

This little post made me smile and now I’m curious about the story behind 1763 too.
