My True North (And the Little Compass Inside Me)

What gives you direction in life?

You know, darling, if you asked me what gives me direction in life, I wouldn’t pull out a GPS or a color-coded planner (although both are very handy when needed). No, my compass is stitched together with instincts, little nudges, and a whole lot of heart.

First and foremost? Joy.
If something doesn’t bring some version of joy — whether it’s the good kind that makes you laugh until your sides ache or the quiet, steady kind that fills you up like warm tea — I know it’s not my path. Joy is my north star. Even when things get muddy, even when the map gets smudged, I can still sniff out the direction that feels right because it feels light.

Kindness is another marker on my personal roadmap.
Not just the easy, ”hold the door open” kind (though that’s important too) — I mean the stubborn, unshakeable belief that you always have a choice to leave someone better than you found them. Sometimes it’s a word, sometimes it’s a smile, sometimes it’s just listening like it matters. Kindness turns strangers into friends and lost wanderers into dance partners.

Then there’s the quiet voice inside.
Oh, she’s small sometimes. Especially when the world gets loud, and everyone’s shouting advice and flashing neon arrows. But if I get still — if I put down my phone, turn down the noise, and listen — she’s always there. Whispering. Nudging. “Go left.” “Say yes.” “It’s time.”
That voice has never steered me wrong, even when she’s taken me the long way ‘round.

Gratitude is another big one.
It’s like the oil that keeps the whole engine purring. I don’t need a mansion or a gold-plated espresso machine to feel rich. A warm cup of coffee, a good pair of dancing shoes, a handwritten note from someone who thought of me — that’s treasure. That’s what keeps my steps steady when the road gets bumpy.

And of course, people.
The ones who lift you when your knees buckle. The ones who see your magic even when you forget it’s there. The ones who tell you the truth, gently but firmly, when you’re about to swan dive into a bad idea. My direction isn’t something I chart alone — it’s a chorus. A collection of hearts I trust.

So no, darling, there’s no neat little map with a dotted line for me.
It’s a feeling.
A flicker of light.
A song only I can hear sometimes.
And every time I dance toward it — one triple-step at a time — it gets a little brighter.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋

Oh, always — even if it’s just a little twirl while the kettle’s boiling. Thanks for the cheer, darling
