In Defence of Indecisive Weather

What is your favorite type of weather?

I’ve always been suspicious of people who say they love “any kind of weather.”

Not because it isn’t a lovely sentiment—but because it usually means they haven’t been caught in sideways rain with a handbag that wasn’t built for survival.

No, if I’m being honest, my favourite kind of weather is the sort that doesn’t try too hard.

A soft, slightly overcast day. The kind where the light is diffused just enough to make everything look a touch more forgiving. Not gloomy—just… gentle. Like the world has decided to lower its voice for a while.

It’s the sort of weather where you can walk without purpose and not feel like you’re wasting time. Where a coffee lasts longer, conversations drift a little further, and nobody feels the need to rush anywhere important.

Sunshine, of course, is delightful. But it comes with expectations. You’re meant to be out, doing things, making the most of it. There’s a pressure to perform joy, which can be rather exhausting before lunchtime.

Rain, on the other hand, has its moments—preferably when viewed through a window with something warm in hand and absolutely nowhere to be.

But that in-between? That quiet, undecided weather?

That’s where I find myself most at ease.

No grand gestures. No drama.

Just enough light to see clearly… and just enough cloud to take the edge off.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
