Confidence, Glitter and Grandma

Who is the most confident person you know?

Confidence is often mistaken for volume.

People think it’s the loudest person in the room. The one who speaks first, interrupts often, and gestures wildly as though the air itself needs direction.

But the most confident person I know doesn’t do any of that.

She simply enters the room as if it had been expecting her all along.

That person is my grandmother.

Grandma Beaumont is the only woman I know who can walk into a church wearing enough glitter to trigger mild concern from the vicar and still behave as though everyone else is underdressed.

Her philosophy is wonderfully simple:

If you’re going to show up somewhere, darling, you might as well arrive properly.

I’ve seen her flirt with priests, reorganize bake sales that didn’t require reorganizing, and once convince an entire room of people that a raffle prize was far more glamorous than it had any right to be.

Not loudly.

Just confidently.

The truth is that confidence doesn’t come from believing you’re perfect.

It comes from not being particularly bothered if you’re not.

Grandma has never tried to be anyone else. She simply assumes that the world will adapt to her presence eventually.

And strangely enough…

It usually does.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
