A Little Bit of Luck

Are you superstitious?

People sometimes ask if I’m superstitious.

The honest answer is: not really… but I do enjoy a good ritual.

Superstitions, after all, are really just small ways we try to negotiate with chaos. Humans have always liked the idea that if we knock on wood, avoid stepping on cracks, or carry a lucky coin, the universe might look at us kindly for the day.

I don’t truly believe that walking under a ladder will bring misfortune. But I will admit that if someone hands me a pair of new shoes and places them on the table, I feel an almost irresistible urge to move them somewhere else.

Not because I think disaster will strike.

But because my grandmother would have raised an eyebrow from across the room.

And some habits stay with you long after the people who taught them have gone.

Perhaps that’s what superstition really is — not belief in magic, but small echoes of the people who shaped us.

So no, I wouldn’t say I’m superstitious.

But if you ever see me knock gently on a wooden table after saying something optimistic…

Let’s just say I prefer to keep the universe on friendly terms.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
