Share five things you’re good at.
I’m not great at compliments — unless I’m giving them.
Accepting them? Still working on that one.
But since today’s prompt nudged me to name five things I’m good at, I’ve decided not to be shy about it.
So here we go — five things I bring to the table (along with biscuits, usually):
1. Listening.
Not the nod-and-smile kind. The real kind.
I’m good at reading between the lines, sitting with silence, holding space when someone’s unraveling and not rushing to stitch it back up.
People tell me things they didn’t mean to say out loud — and somehow, that’s always been true.
2. Spotting the ridiculous.
I can sense the absurdity in any room within eight seconds. A bizarre hat, an overcomplicated wine menu, someone earnestly defending their favorite Excel formula — I’ll find it.
And I’ll probably laugh — lovingly — because the ridiculous is where most joy lives.
3. Styling things (and people) to feel like themselves.
Be it a room, a sentence, or a person who’s forgotten their sparkle — I can see what needs fluffing, what needs trimming, and what just needs to be seen.
Not makeover, just… make-you-er.
4. Remembering the perfect line at the perfect time.
Be it a lyric, a film quote, or something someone’s nan once said in 1983 — my brain is a jukebox of moments that just fit.
Some people bring facts to dinner. I bring phrasing.
5. Carrying on.
Not stiff-upper-lip carrying on. Not denial.
But the kind that lets you sit in the mess, sip your tea, and say:
“Right. This hurts. But it’s not going to end me.”
Resilience with red lipstick. That’s my brand.
Feel free to tell me yours — we all need a reminder now and then.
You’re probably better at more things than you think.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
