Do you see yourself as a leader?
Darling, I’ve never marched in front of a parade with a baton, nor have I ever shouted through a megaphone. Leadership, to me, has never been about volume. It’s about presence.
I see leadership in the quiet moments — the ones where you choose to step up, not because anyone asked you to, but because the silence would feel too heavy if you didn’t.
I lead when I hold the door open and say, “Come on, darling, you belong here too.”
I lead when I laugh first, so someone else can unclench their nerves and laugh second.
I lead when I wear the lipstick, not because I need it, but because it whispers to the room, “Permission granted — be bold, be seen.”
For me, leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice. It’s about being the echo that lingers after the noise has gone. It’s in remembering names, in sending the text that says “I thought of you,” in dancing first when everyone else is waiting for someone braver.
And of course, there’s the kind of leadership that’s unglamorous but necessary — showing up on time, paying attention, doing the boring work beautifully. Because darling, if we only lead when it’s sparkling, then we’re just performers. True leadership knows how to shine in the spotlight and how to sweep up the confetti afterward.
So yes, I do see myself as a leader. But not the kind who commands. The kind who invites. Not the kind who demands loyalty, but the kind who earns trust.
And if that makes someone else feel like they can be a little taller, a little braver, a little more themselves? Then I’ll happily wear the title.
What about you, darling? Do you see yourself as a leader — or as the one who makes leaders possible?
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
