The House That Wears Red Lipstick

What does your ideal home look like?

Darling, it’s less about square footage and more about soul. My dream home doesn’t need to be a palace — though I wouldn’t turn down a turret or two — it needs to feel like it belongs to me, like it’s already humming my favorite tune the moment I step inside.

Picture this: sunlight spilling through tall windows, the kind that practically demand you buy fresh flowers just to do them justice. Hardwood floors with just enough creak to remind you that they’ve witnessed decades of footsteps, secrets, and midnight dances in stocking feet.

The walls? A gallery of stories. Not just art, but photographs, trinkets from travels, lipstick kisses pressed into napkins, a frame that holds a pressed flower from some forgotten bouquet. Every corner would whisper, “Yes, something fabulous happened here.”

The kitchen would be the heart, of course — not gleaming steel and perfection, but a place that smells of cinnamon and coffee. A little messy, a little lived-in, with room for a friend to sit on the counter and sip wine while I stir something “accidentally” dramatic.

There’d be a library, naturally. Shelves that climb the walls, a rolling ladder, a velvet chair by the window. Books that are half-read, books that are loved to tatters, books that still smell of the shop where I found them. Because a house without books is just a building; a home with books is a soul in hardback.

And somewhere — maybe a balcony, maybe a rooftop — a place for music. A turntable spinning a jazz record, fairy lights strung up overhead, the city beyond twinkling like sequins. A space to exhale, to laugh, to kiss, to dream.

My ideal home isn’t about perfection. It’s about welcome. It’s a place where lipstick stains on teacups aren’t cleaned away too quickly, where glitter might linger in the corners, where friends walk in and feel immediately wrapped in warmth.

So, darling, that’s the house I’m building in my dreams: one part glamour, one part comfort, all heart. A house that wears red lipstick and never apologizes for it.

And you? What does your dream home look like?

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
