What TV shows did you watch as a kid?
Picture it, darling: the late ’70s, shag carpeting under my legs, a bowl of cereal that was basically 80% sugar, and the soft click of the TV warming up before it filled the room with pure magic.
I grew up on a diet of shows that were equal parts comfort and aspiration. Charlie’s Angels was my absolute favorite — three women, fearless and fabulous, solving crimes with feathered hair and perfect eyeliner. Don’t think for a second that didn’t shape the way I walk into a room.
Then there was Happy Days. The Fonz with his leather jacket and that iconic “Ayyyy!” — it was cool distilled into a single syllable. To this day, I can’t hear a jukebox without smiling.
And of course, The Love Boat. Oh, darling, the glamour of it all — sequins, sunsets, and romance sailing into port every Saturday night. I may not have understood all the storylines back then, but I knew it was dripping with fabulous.
Laverne & Shirley had me giggling endlessly. Two women making their way in the world with humor, mischief, and the occasional pratfall — they taught me that friendship is the best laugh track.
And for a little sparkle of sci-fi, I loved Mork & Mindy. Robin Williams bouncing around in rainbow suspenders? Pure joy, pure chaos, and proof that laughter is universal. “Nanu Nanu,” indeed.
Looking back, those shows weren’t just entertainment. They were lessons in style, friendship, humor, and the idea that life should always have a touch of the unexpected.
So yes, my childhood TV was a kaleidoscope: angels in heels, leather-jacket cool, cruise-ship romance, slapstick friendship, and one extraterrestrial in a Colorado apartment.
And maybe that’s why I still believe life should come with its own laugh track — and always a fabulous entrance.
What about you, darling? Which shows filled your Saturday nights and Sunday mornings with a little extra sparkle?
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
