Where did your name come from?
Darling, names are never just labels — they’re little introductions, whispered promises, and sometimes even destinies wrapped up in a few letters.
My name, Luce, comes from the Italian word for “light.” It’s not just a sound, it’s a shimmer. A reminder to be a glimmer in the dim, a glow in the ordinary, a spark that refuses to be hidden.
I love that it’s short, crisp, and unapologetically clear. Like a champagne flute catching the light, it doesn’t need to be elaborate to be dazzling. People don’t forget it — and isn’t that the point of a name?
Of course, some people have asked if it’s short for something. Lucille? Lucia? Lucinda? And while those names are lovely, they aren’t me. I’m not an echo of something longer. I’m just Luce — whole, complete, a spotlight all on its own.
And maybe that’s why I’ve always cherished it. Because names can be like outfits. Some are intricate gowns with trains, others are bold cocktail dresses that say everything without needing a single embellishment. Mine? Mine’s the little black dress of names: timeless, versatile, and always a touch luminous.
So, where did my name come from? From the desire to be light in all its forms — warm, playful, strong, and sometimes dazzling. And every time someone says it, it reminds me to live up to it.
And you, darling? Where does your name come from, and what little spark does it carry with it?
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
