What brings you peace?
Peace, darling, is not always found in grand gestures or perfect moments.
For me, it’s in the spaces between — those little breaths the world forgets to rush.
It’s the sound of my coffee brewing before the day knows I’m awake,
when the street outside hasn’t quite remembered how to be noisy yet.
It’s a favorite song humming softly in the background,
and knowing the record’s B-side is just as good.
Peace is the way a cat finds your lap without asking,
settling in as if they’ve been waiting for you all day.
It’s the weight of them,
the slow rhythm of their breathing,
and the way their purr smooths out the wrinkles in your mind.
It’s a fresh notebook.
The first page, untouched.
A pen that glides without interruption.
The promise that here, for the next few minutes,
I can untangle my thoughts and dress them up in words that fit.
Peace is walking into my kitchen in bare feet,
finding the light just right,
the air carrying the smell of something warm —
cinnamon, maybe, or Sunday afternoon pie —
and realizing there’s no need to be anywhere else.
It’s in the little pauses:
a sip of tea before answering the phone,
a slow sway in the kitchen to a song no one else can hear,
a look in the mirror and thinking,
“Yes, I like her. She can stay.”
Because peace isn’t about everything being perfect —
heaven knows I’d be waiting forever.
It’s about finding a corner of the day that feels like yours,
slipping into it like a favorite sweater,
and deciding to stay a while.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
