How do you practice self-care?
Darling,
Let’s get one thing straight: self-care isn’t just bubble baths and spa days — though I’m certainly not saying no to a eucalyptus soak and a glass of chilled sauvignon. But for me, real self-care begins somewhere deeper. Somewhere quieter.
It starts when I say no.
No to the friend who only calls when she needs a favor.
No to the inbox that thinks it owns my evenings.
No to the version of me that apologizes just for taking up space.
And then — it becomes a yes.
Yes to going slow on a Monday morning.
Yes to wearing the red lipstick just because it makes me feel powerful.
Yes to deleting that app that made me feel like I needed to be someone else.
Yes to writing a note to myself that simply says: “You’re doing fine. Breathe.”
Self-care is drinking water before coffee.
It’s listening to the jazz playlist instead of the news.
It’s checking in with my soul before checking Instagram.
It’s forgiving myself for not doing it all — and still being proud of what I did.
Sometimes it’s taking a walk without a destination.
Sometimes it’s putting on the earrings even if I’m just going to the post office.
Sometimes it’s lying on the floor with a dog and remembering I am loved for exactly who I am.
Because I’ve learned this: you can’t give from an empty cup. And darling, we were never meant to run on fumes and compliments alone.
So I fill my cup. One song, one sip, one slow morning at a time.
How about you? What’s your self-care signature?
Tell me in the comments — I want to know how you’re being soft with your soul.
Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
