One Small Fix, Coming Right Up

What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

Oh honey, just one? That feels ambitious.

But alright — if I had to pick just one small, do-able, doesn’t-require-a-personal-assistant improvement? It would be this: stop saying yes when I mean “mmm, maybe later… or never.”

You know what I mean. That reflexive, polite “sure!” when someone suggests something I really don’t have the bandwidth, energy, or interest for. Book club with no snacks? Helping someone move in 32°C heat? Wearing beige?

Now, I’m not talking about saying no to life, darling. I love life. But I’ve realized that every time I say yes to something I don’t want to do, I’m saying no to something I do want — even if that something is just an evening with my cat, my tea, and a rerun of Strictly.

So my little improvement is this: pause before I say yes. Ask myself, “Do I actually want this, or am I just trying to be agreeable?” Because the people who truly love me? They don’t need me to contort myself into politeness knots. They love me for who I am — glitter, sass, boundaries and all.

And that small shift? It changes everything.
Less guilt, more joy. Less obligation, more intention.

Like what you read? Darling, this is just the beginning.
