The Holiday That Twirls

What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

Listen, darling — I love a good celebration. Give me an excuse to wear a twirly skirt, mix up a signature cocktail, and hang fairy lights on anything that’ll sit still, and I’m in. But when it comes to choosing a favorite holiday?

It’s New Year’s Eve. Always. Forever. With fireworks on top.

Now I know, I know — some folks say it’s overhyped. That it’s just glitter and resolutions we’ll forget by February. But to me? It’s the night. The one steeped in hope, sparkles, and second chances. It’s the world’s most glamorous reset button — and I am here for it.

There’s a rhythm to New Year’s Eve I adore. Not just the clink of champagne glasses or the pop of confetti, but the deeper rhythm — the one that says: “You made it. You’re still here. And you’ve got more dances ahead.”

Every December 31st, I light a candle, throw on something fabulous (sequins are a must), and make a little ritual of it. I write down what I’m letting go of. I write what I’m carrying forward. I pick a word for the new year. Last year’s was “flow.” The year before? “Spark.”
This year… well, you’ll have to wait and see, won’t you?

And then — when the clock ticks close to midnight, and the air is thick with anticipation — I dance.
Right in the middle of my living room, or at a social if I’m lucky. Doesn’t matter where. What matters is that I move. I step into the new year not with noise, but with grace. With joy. With a little swing in my hips and a smile on my lips.

There’s something so utterly romantic about a holiday that’s both an ending and a beginning. The only one that’s looking back and forward at the same time. It’s the perfect moment for reflection — and reinvention. For closing chapters and sketching out new ones with a bold red pen.

Christmas might be cozy. Valentine’s might be sweet. But New Year’s Eve?
That one’s got edge. It’s got heart.
It’s got a countdown and a kiss and the kind of mood lighting that makes you feel like anything is possible.

And maybe — just maybe — that’s what I love most about it.
It isn’t about gifts or cards or traditions handed down.
It’s about what you decide to make of it.

A clean slate. A fresh page.
A fabulous excuse to believe in yourself, all over again.

And you know what?
You don’t need a new calendar to feel that. You can start any day.

But if you’re asking me to pick one?
New Year’s.
Always.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
