The words left unsaid

Darling, I still remember the room — pale walls, too much overhead lighting, and one of those scratchy office chairs that somehow manage to squeak no matter how still you sit.

It wasn’t dramatic. No tears, no raised voices, no slow-motion Hollywood moment. Just a pause.

She was speaking — a colleague, a friend — sharing something small but honest. A glimpse of herself, raw and real. You could tell it took courage. And in that breath between her last sentence and the rest of the world moving on… I said nothing.

I don’t know why. Maybe I thought my words wouldn’t matter. Maybe I worried I’d say the wrong thing. Maybe I was just tired. But I didn’t lean in. I didn’t echo her truth with a “Me too,” or offer even a soft, simple “That sounds hard.”

And it’s haunted me more than the things I have said, ever since.

Because she looked down after that — and I knew I’d missed a moment. A little crack of connection, a chance to say, “I see you.”

If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t try to dazzle or rescue or fix. I’d just show up with presence. A quiet voice. A little warmth.

So here’s the lesson I’m carrying:
When your heart nudges you to speak — do.
Even if your voice shakes. Even if it’s just a few words. Especially then.

Because silence isn’t always golden. Sometimes, it’s just empty space where a little human magic could’ve been.

Stay fabulous,
Luce 💋
